Megumi began her career as a children's book illustrations. She has since added contemporary art to her repertoire. Although she now resides in Phoenix, Arizona, painter Megumi Akiyama was born in Kawasaki, Japan and cites her childhood – where traditional summer festivals, elaborate kimonos and fireworks displays – and current desert environment as a major influence in her works.She received her Bachelor’s of Fine Art in illustration from California State, Long Beach, California.
