Dakota Finn Bio
Dakota Finn’s earliest memories involve drawing. His Father still recounts in amazement at his natural ability as a young boy, to properly render the human figure. Using light, shape, and form, his work celebrates the beauty of the seemingly commonplace. Finn’s work delights viewers with vibrant color, while his technique is classically based with a fresh, impressionistic flair, giving a voice to the art to sing about his personal love affair with life.Born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Finn graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in Landscape Architecture. After college, he attended the Art Students League of Denver, Colorado. There he studied under the tutelage of Ramon Kelly, Doug Dawson, and Kim English. Finn currently resides in his Denver home, working in his quaint studio. His passion for art is ever present as his business acumen has cultivated a loyal local following as well as national. As a full-time professional artist since 2006, he has perfected his craft, claiming his attention to the ever-present as his guide and biggest inspiration. Finn explains his process as doing what comes naturally, “My subjects choose me-their patterns and shapes, their sense of rhythm and movement inspire my creative energy. Pastel and acrylic allow me to capture the immediacy of the experience.”
