About The Artist
Michael Terese is the pseudonodym used for the painting duo comprised of Joan Terese Hayes andKasey Michael Child. They work primarily in acrylic on canvas, painting in layers and textures using palette knives. Their varying styles have come together to create unique, powerful work that continues to evolve. Their process usually involves a preliminary discussion about palette choices and basic style of painting. One or both will then create a rough under painting, planning ahead which colors will be revealed as layers are added. They alternate sides of a painting as they work, occassionally switching back and forth.
Michael Terese is an unlikely collaboration, as the artists are a mother-son team. Their work is represented in galleries throughout the country. Both artists maintain studios and continue to produce work individually. Joan lives on the Champlain Islands of Vermont and Kasey lives in Burlington, Vermont.
